Privacy and Data Protection

Wise Wills needs personal information to provide our Will-writing service. We aim to collect only information that is necessary for the service and to handle it securely and transparently.

Information you provide

When you contact us or submit instructions for a Will, the information you provide may include your name, contact details and the information needed to prepare and revise your Will.

Why we use your information

We use your information to respond to enquiries, prepare and revise Will documents, communicate with you about your instructions, arrange payment where applicable, and provide the service you have requested.

Temporary online handling of Will instructions

When an online instruction form is used, the information may be held temporarily on the website server so that the submission can be received and transferred to Wise Wills for processing. We do not intend to use the website as a permanent customer database.

Once a submission has been successfully received and the information has been retrieved for the working file, the temporary copy held on the website will be deleted as soon as reasonably practicable, subject to any technical backup or security processes that may apply.

Email and notifications

We may use email to notify Wise Wills when a form submission or payment event has occurred and, where appropriate, to acknowledge receipt to the customer. If notification services are introduced, the privacy information will be updated to identify the service used and explain its role.

Security

We will use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal information. Website submissions will be transmitted over HTTPS. Will instructions will be handled using the secure email arrangements provided by Wise Wills. The specific technical security controls used by the email service will be described in the service's current security arrangements.

How long information is kept

Temporary website copies of submitted instructions will be deleted once their immediate online processing purpose has been completed, subject to any limited technical retention needed for security or system recovery. Records that Wise Wills is required or has a legitimate reason to retain separately will be covered by the final retention schedule.

Your rights

Depending on the circumstances, you may have rights under UK data-protection law, including rights to request access to personal information, ask for inaccurate information to be corrected, and raise concerns about how your information is handled.

Third-party services

Where external services are used for hosting, email, payment processing or notifications, the final privacy information will identify the relevant providers and explain what information they process and why.

Contact

If you have a question about privacy or the handling of your information, please contact Wise Wills using the details on our Contact page.

Important: This privacy information is written for the planned service workflow. Before the website accepts live customer instructions or payments, it should be checked against the final Easyspace hosting arrangement, email/notification services, payment provider, retention process and any other systems actually used.
